This isn’t just another ride — it’s a pilgrimage.

The road rolls gently at first, passing small towns, farm fields, and the winding Nooksack River. The smell of evergreens and the warm air pockets are a sensory blast as you lean into the sweeping curves. Past Glacier, the pace changes. The highway begins to climb, corners tighten, straights shorten, and the horizon fills with jagged peaks and deep green forests.

When you reach Heather Meadows, the alpine world takes over. Trees thin, the air turns crisp, and there is a possibility of roadside snow banks...even in July.  The final 2.7 miles to Artist Point twist and climb above the tree line, hugging ridges with drop-offs that remind you just how high you’ve come. Switchbacks give way to sudden, breathtaking views.

At the top, you roll into a wide-open parking area framed by 360 degrees of pure Washington glory: Mount Shuksan’s razor-edged summit to one side, Mount Baker’s snow-capped mass to the other.

**This ride is not recommended for novice or casual riders.**

As noted, the last 3 miles has 8 or so 180 degree continuously uphill hairpin turns  With a suggested speed of 10-15 mph. You must be able to control your machine in the friction zone and stay within your lane. There are no guardrails. However, the road surface is very smooth and engineered well.

You will be rewarded upon reaching the summit with unbelievable views. A lunch will be arranged since this will be an all-day ride.

The total round trip miles will be about 210 with seat time around 5 h 15 m.   There will be rest breaks along the way.
