FERRY TO WHIDBEY ISLAND -
Self Guided

This is a Self-Guided Ride due to Ferry scheduling and stop times for pictures and tranquility.

Get ready for a breathtaking ride through Washington State’s most scenic and visited places. This ride will take you on a 15-minute Ferry ride from Mukilteo to Clinton on the southern tip of Whidbey Island. Go to the ferry ticketing kiosk. Purchase your ticket. Follow the instructions provided by the ticket seller. They will likely tell you to proceed to the front of the line by a specific path-motorcycles are first on/first off. Follow the instructions of all ferry workers when boarding and disembarking. When you have parked, place your vehicle in first gear to avoid rolling. You can go up to the deck for a better view, but listen for the captains 5-minute warning when it is time to return to your vehicles.

You will ride off the ferry to the small but vibrant town of Langley with lots of small shops, a world-renowned glass blowing company, yes you can watch them work, and a board walk along the inner coastal way of Saratoga passage and Camano Island.
Next up is the Coupeville/Port Townsend Ferry Terminal where you can stop and enjoy the view of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountain range. Fort Ebey off to the right-hand side of the Ferry terminal allows you to walk up to the gun turrets on the bluff and have an even better view of the sound. Your next stop will be a short trip to the other side of the island into Coupeville, an old fishing village that still has a wharf out in the bay connected by a walking pier with food, a souvenir shop and a fantastic view of the bay.

After that refreshing scenery, you will take a ride up along the inner coastal way through native Madrona tree groves along the roadside and the renowned Penn Cove Mussel Farm that have won international taste contests. From there, take a ride out to West Beach on the pacific coastline where you will experience coastal bluffs and sea level communities. Passing by Naval Air Station Whidbey Island you will have an opportunity to stop along the shoulder and take a few pictures of the A-6 Intruder and the AE-6B Prowler that are on pedestals at the intersection of Hwy 20 and Ault Field Road.
Last but certainly not least, the World-Famous Deception Pass Bridge. Built in the 1930’s, this is the number one tourist destination in Washington State, and you will understand why when you see it. No spoilers alert, enjoy the ride.
