LEAVENWORTH BAVARIAN VILLAGE
Self Guided
This self-guided route begins at Sound Harley-Davidson in Marysville, our home base on the north end of Puget Sound. Head out of the parking lot and take a right on Smokey Point Blvd and make your way to south Highway 9. This stretch is a favorite for riders: rolling farmland, tall evergreens, and gentle curves that let you warm up the bike without fighting freeway traffic. As you approach Monroe, you’ll see the Cascade foothills rising ahead — a hint of what’s to come.

From Monroe, merge onto US-2 eastbound toward the mountains. The road quickly becomes more scenic, hugging the Skykomish River and threading through small communities like Gold Bar and Index. Waterfalls glint on the cliffs, and in cooler months you’ll smell cedar and fir as you climb. Stay alert for wildlife and side traffic from trailheads; it’s a beautiful but busy corridor.

Leavenworth has a Bavarian charm. It's quite popular with tourists so stay focused on the parts you want to see. There is some street parking, but it is very limited. It's quickest to find a spot in the pay lot and start walking. Some shops that may be of interest include the Hat Shop, Nutcracker Haus, Cheesemonger's Shop, Boulder Bend Glassworks and Kris Kringl Christmas Shop. There are numerous restaurants serving Bavarian style food and beer. Just west of town is The Alps Fudge and Candy Shop on the river. If you can think of the candy, they have it. If you are looking for fuel, there is a large fuel station on the east side of town just across the bridge that crosses the Wenatchee River.
Once you are ready to leave town, head east to top your fuel. Continue east on US-2 to Peshastin and turn left onto Main Street. Follow Main Street and stay left at the intersection with Derby Canyon Road. Eventually, Main Street will turn into North Road. Follow North Road to Chumstick Highway. Go right on Chumstick Highway which will eventually turn into Beaver Valley Road -- a winding, lightly traveled gem with evergreens, meadows, and long curves perfect for a relaxed pace. When you reach WA-207 turn left in the direction of US-2. Head west on US-2 in the direction of Stevens Pass. Deception Falls will be on the right side of Highway 2 just on the West side of Stevens Pass summit. There is ample parking, the view is quite spectacular and there is a restroom facility too.
