WHIDBEY ISLAND NORTH -- GUIDED

This will be a medium-skill level ride, a full day with plenty of stops for photos and breaks that will add to the total ride time. The route offers a true sampler of the Pacific Northwest, taking you from lush farmland to salt-air coastal roads, historic towns and iconic bridges.

We begin at Sound Harley-Davidson and head north through the quiet backroads skirting Arlington and Lake Goodwin. These rolling two-lane stretches weave through farmland, wetlands and rural communities before dropping us into the Skagit Valley. The early part of the ride is relaxed with sweeping turns—perfect for warming up. Crossing the sloughs of the Skagit Delta, we roll into the colorful town of La Conner. This is a great spot to stretch your legs or snap a photo of the fishing boats and tribal artwork along the boardwalk. The route then threads through the Swinomish Reservation, where you’ll see glimpses of tidal flats and eagles overhead.

From there we will continue out to Anacortes, a vibrant fishing port at the tip of Fidalgo Island. This section hugs the shoreline with views of Burrows Bay and the San Juans, and on clear days you’ll spot the Olympic Mountains far to the west. Next comes one of Washington’s crown jewels: Deception Pass Bridge. We’ll pause for photos at the overlook to capture the dramatic emerald waters churning below—a bucket-list moment for every rider.

Crossing onto Whidbey Island, the road bends south through Oak Harbor and down to Coupeville. Expect a mix of open straights, forested curves and glimpses of the bay. At the Coupeville ferry terminal, you’ll have a postcard view of the Puget Sound framed by the snowcapped Olympic Range. We’ll stop for a late lunch at Bastion Brewing near Anacortes (no alcohol consumption during the ride). It’s a biker-friendly spot with hearty plates to refuel for the return leg.

After lunch we retrace the scenic roads back through Skagit farmland to Sound Harley-Davidson. The return route keeps the coastal views coming and offers a relaxed end to a day full of Pacific Northwest scenery. This ride packs it all into one loop—farmland, wetlands, Native American cultural lands, working fishing towns, dramatic bridges and ferry views.
