CHUCKANUT DRIVE - GUIDED

Chuckanut Drive meanders along the waters of Bellingham Bay and Samish Bay with sweeping vistas of the San Juan Islands in the west. There will be some photo, and comfort stops along the way.

The ride begins by cruising north on Highway 9 through Arlington, Big Lake, Clear Lake and Sedro-Woolley. There will be a comfort stop in Sedro-Woolley. Next, we will head up to Bellingham along the western shore of Lake Whatcom, the 4th largest lake in Washington. As we head up Yew Street road, check your mirrors behind and to the North to view the Canadian Coastal Range in British Columbia.  We will make another stretch stop at Lake Padden Park.  Bellingham has over 40 city parks and each one has its own specialty.

And finally, Chuckanut Drive, a highlight in and of itself!  This legendary ribbon of pavement clings to the cliffs high above Bellingham Bay and Samish Bay, curling and dipping through old-growth evergreens and rocky outcrops. Around each bend, new panoramas open up — sweeping views of shimmering water dotted with fishing boats, tiny coves hidden below, and the San Juan Islands rising like emerald jewels on the western horizon. The road is narrow and wickedly twisty, so we will ride single-file to let everyone savor the curves, the sea air, and plenty of photo-worthy pull-outs.

As we drop back down to earth we will be cruising through the flat farm country in Skagit County, riding through small towns like Bow-Edison and working our way over to Conway, Stanwood and Silvana before returning to Sound Harley-Davidson.
